  • 1 premade pizza dough
  • 2 cups onion, chopped
  • 2 cups corn
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 6 oz fresh mozzarella cheese

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Put your pizza dough on a pizza stone, pizza pan, or cookie sheet.  Pre-bake your pizza dough if the directions say to do so.

  2. Put the onions and corn in a small mixing bowl and toss them with a bit of olive oil. Saute them over medium heat until the onions are caramelized and the corn has started to brown.  Put them back in the mixing bowl and toss them with the salt, pepper, and oregano.

  3. Spread some olive oil over your prepared pizza crust.  Then evenly spread the tomato sauce or pizza sauce.  Top with the sautéed vegetables, and finally top the vegetables with the cheese.  Top the cheese with a bit more oregano, if you want to.  You can also drizzle a bit of olive oil on the crust of the pizza to give it a bit more flavor.  Transfer the pan to the preheated oven.  Bake for about 8 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling.

More about your pizza crust...

The type of crust that you choose to create makes a huge difference in the outcome of your pizza recipe.  Thin crust and thick crust pizzas are very different and the one you choose depends on the occasion, the preferences of your guests, and the toppings you plan to use in your recipe.

It is important to consider the occasion when you are choosing what kind of crust to use for your pizza recipe.  Thick crust is a great option if it is cold outside and you have hungry guests who are craving a hearty meal of pizza and beer.  A thin crust may be more appropriate if you are planning a light meal during the summertime, accompanied by a salad and white wine.
