  • 1 pie pastry
  • 4 tart apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Fit the pie pastry on to a greased pizza pan, about 12 inches in diameter.  Roll the edges up to form a crust.  Bake the pastry for 10 minutes.

  3. Form the apples into a single layer on top of the pie pastry.  Make sure the pastry is completely covered by the apples, except for the part around the outside that you formed into a crust.  Sprinkle the cheddar and Swiss cheeses over the pizza.  Mix the brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a small bowl until well combined.  Spread this mixture evenly over the cheese.

  4. Slice the butter into small pieces and sprinkle it over the pizza evenly, so that when it melts each piece will have some. Bake the pizza for about 20 minutes, or longer if necessary.  Just make sure the apples are tender and hot.  Cut the pizza into squares or wedges, and serve it warm, or chill to serve later as a cold snack or dessert.

More about your specialty pizza...

Although everyone loves traditional pepperoni as a topping, it can be fun to spice up your pizza using unusual and unexpected ingredients. It is obviously an incredibly versatile food, so you have plenty of freedom to choose your toppings, cheese, and sauce. The great thing about it is that it is easy to tailor it to the needs of your guests.

Meat lovers will love a barbecue chicken pie with cheddar cheese instead of the traditional mozzarella. For a unique vegetarian pie, try adding zucchini, eggplant, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, and olive oil. Or you could even try a dessert themed pizza, using a cinnamon glaze for the sauce and topped with apples and pears.

We strive to bring you the best recipes, no matter what kind of unique toppings you choose. We hope that you enjoy all of the recipes that you find on this site and that you will continue to visit for all of your pizza making needs.
