Apple Cheddar Pizza
- 1 pie pastry
- 4 tart apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fit the pie pastry on to a greased pizza pan, about 12 inches in diameter. Roll the edges up to form a crust. Bake the pastry for 10 minutes.
Form the apples into a single layer on top of the pie pastry. Make sure the pastry is completely covered by the apples, except for the part around the outside that you formed into a crust. Sprinkle the cheddar and Swiss cheeses over the pizza. Mix the brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a small bowl until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the cheese.
Slice the butter into small pieces and sprinkle it over the pizza evenly, so that when it melts each piece will have some. Bake the pizza for about 20 minutes, or longer if necessary. Just make sure the apples are tender and hot. Cut the pizza into squares or wedges, and serve it warm, or chill to serve later as a cold snack or dessert.
